I am seeing a strange loop form around AI.

Someone generates a document, email, proposal, or plan with AI. It gets sent to a team or customer. The recipient drops it into another AI tool and generates a response. Then that response is fed back into another system for another version.

At the end, there may be a lot of output. But no one has actually done the work of reading, considering, challenging, or creating.

That is trash.

Not because AI is trash. AI can help us think more clearly, move faster, see patterns, prepare better questions, and turn good human judgment into useful work at a scale we could not reach alone.

But it cannot become the substitute for ownership.

Speed is tempting. Keeping up is tempting. Avoiding the discomfort of a hard decision is tempting. It is easy to send something that sounds finished before you have fully decided whether you believe it. It is even easier to receive something and respond without giving it the dignity of your attention.

But that is not service. It is not leadership. And it is not connection.

If I send you something with my name on it, I should be able to stand behind it. If you send me something that matters, I should actually read it. We still have to be accountable authors, accountable readers, and accountable decision-makers.

The most human use of AI should make us more present—not less. It should give us more capacity to understand people, not more ways to bypass them.

In human-first work, the human cannot become the least involved part of the process.
